Founded in 2007, Gatrel Enterprises has grown from a small agricultural fencing and welding business into a regional steel supplier and full-service fabrication company.
Based in Northwest Missouri, our approximately 15-person team serves agricultural, commercial, industrial, and individual customers throughout Northwest Missouri, Eastern Kansas, Southern Iowa, and Southeast Nebraska. A significant portion of our commercial work is concentrated in the Kansas City area.

The idea for Gatrel Enterprises began taking shape in 2006. Jeff was working full-time on his family's cattle farm during a particularly difficult period for livestock prices. Having already been self-employed, he wanted to create another source of income without leaving the farm for a conventional job.
Jeff had been doing welding and constructing agricultural fencing on the side, so he spent roughly a year planning how to turn that work into a business. Gatrel Enterprises was founded in 2007, with agricultural fencing forming the foundation of the company. It remains an important part of the business today.
In 2014, Jeff made the deliberate decision to step back from actively growing the company so he could spend more time with his children while they were young and continue working on the family farm. Gatrel Enterprises continued operating during that period, but on a smaller scale — sometimes with one employee, sometimes with part-time assistance, and at other times with Jeff working on his own.
Around 2019, Jeff committed himself more fully to growing the business again. Gatrel began taking on more commercial projects and expanding its steel sales, which had been part of the business from its early years. Through 2020 and the years that followed, the company continued adding employees, equipment, inventory, and capabilities.
Today, Gatrel Enterprises brings together three closely connected operations: a steel supplier, a welding shop, and a custom fabrication company. Keeping those capabilities together allows our team to help customers with everything from raw material and individual repairs to custom project development, fabrication, and complete installed assemblies.

Experience Behind Every Project
The strength of Gatrel Enterprises comes from the experience and dedication of our workforce. Although the company has continually added employees as it has grown, our employees average approximately three years with Gatrel. More importantly, the team brings substantial combined experience in welding, fabrication, steelwork, and field installation.
That experience helps us solve practical problems, adapt to unusual project requirements, and produce consistent work in both the shop and the field.
Credentials and Training
Our team includes AWS-certified welders, along with personnel who have completed applicable OSHA training and Part 46 MSHA training for surface mining operations.
Gatrel Enterprises does not have a licensed professional engineer on staff and does not provide stamped engineering drawings or professional engineering services. When professional engineering is required, those services must be provided separately by a qualified licensed engineer.
